KATHMANDU,May 23 : Senior Rastriya Prajatanta Party (RPP) leader Surya Bahadur Thapa announces resignation as party chairman on Friday.
Organizing a press meet at his Maligaun-based residence, Thapa told the
reporters that he would resign as a party head on the establishment day
of the party on June 1.
RPP leaders-- Lokendra Bahadur Chand, Prakash Chandra Lohani-- were
said to have been piling pressure on Thapa to step down as per the
agreement made during Unity convention last year.
According to the agreement, top four senior leaders are to lead the party on rotational basic, one year each.
Earlier on Tuesday, senior leader Lokendra Bahadur Chand warned Thapa of
dire consequence in the party, if he overlooks the earlier agreement
to handover the top party post to Chand.
